Communications Intern

Scope of Work:

After working the past year to refine our operations and processes, Oakshire Brewing is now poised to increase engagement and revenue through thoughtful strategic initiatives in both the wholesale/retail markets in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, as well as in our Public House in Eugene.  Specifically, Oakshire is focused on building programs, systems and avenues through which to communicate with current and potential consumers.  Oakshire is seeking an individual who will work with our Director of Strategic Initiatives to maximize the content and reach of our social media accounts, website (including e-commerce), newsletter, and other platforms.

Our goal is to develop and manage an Internship Program (or independent study program - depending on the terms of the program and student requirements) that adds value to and positively benefits both the organization and the intern from a professional development standpoint.

There may be an opportunity for more than one intern per term depending on the amount of hours the interns are able to work per week


Intern’s Educational Level:     Undergraduate or Graduate Student

Interns per Term:                    1

Hours requested per week:     10-20 (potentially more based on availability)

Program days and hours:        Flexible

Location:                                 Oakshire Business Office, 225 Madison Street, Eugene

Program/Intern Manager:        Nina Ritchie, Director of Strategic Initiatives

Hourly Pay:                            $9.75/hour

Primary Duties (subject to change due based on Oakshire’s need and student’s skillset):

Manage Social Media Accounts: Facebook, Twitter, InstragramAssist in review, management and recommendations on content, strategy, platforms, and approach
Ensure consistency through posts and activity on each platform
Manage daily activity on platforms
Recommend revisions, as needed, to existing strategy and implementation


Assist in compilation of internal, key partners, and customer newsletters by translating internal information differently to each group
Build content in Mail Chimp platform


Evaluate existing site, content and components and assist in build/redesign  
Assist in build of e-commerce platform for wholesaler and consumer business needs 

Other Communications

Work with Manager and graphic designer on online, marketing, advertising, and PR campaigns as needed

Provide insights and plans to maximize channels of communication for various events, beer releases, and festivals as needed through


Student must be over the age of 21

Desired Experience:   

Previously utilizing social media for commerce and/or promotion purposes

Developing presentation and/or proposals

Working in a professional environment

Understanding of multimedia platforms and the difference between business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) marketing, through classwork or employment

Desired Skills:


Working independently, with the understanding of how and when to ask for guidance
Excellent verbal and written communication
Drive to develop professionally in a fast-paced environment
High emotional intelligence and self-awareness

    Oakshire Brewing is a community inspired small batch brewing company founded in 2006. We are locally owned, employ 25 people, and produce a wide variety of high quality beers through our distinct brewing programs – Core, Seasonal, and Vintage.  The values that inform our decisions and define us are Craftsmanship, Community, Education, and Authenticity.  Our beers are distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest and can be enjoyed daily in our Public House.
