Marketing Assistant

United Way of Lane County

Position Primary Purpose: 
The Marketing Assistant will report to and work directly with the Marketing Manager to support the de­velopment of compelling marketing that effectively communicates the work and brand of United Way of Lane County while advancing the organizational strategies and goals. 
Primary Functions 
    Maintain website as needed: page content updates, staff listings, job postings, news items, etc. 
    Manage and implement social media strategy 
    Assist in creation of marketing emails, newsletters, event invites, etc. 
    Collaborate in the production of creative, compelling on-brand and on-strategy messaging 
    Facilitate projects with media, including print, digital, television, radio, and public relations agencies 
    Provide staff support to volunteers working with marketing and communications 
    Assist in the planning and management of special events and activities 
    Other duties as assigned 
Secondary Functions 
    Working with staff to understand their departmental marketing needs 
    Work with external partners 
    Perform additional duties as assigned and work in other departments as required. 
Education and Experience 
    High school diploma or equivalent 
    One-year previous marketing experience or educational equivalent 
Demonstrated Abilities 
    Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office 
    Strong writing, spelling, and grammar 
    Able to adopt new technology that improves the quality of work and productivity 
    Adapt well to change, open to new ideas and responsibilities 
    Work well under pressure and deadlines 
    Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
    Firm grasp of marketing fundamental 
   Interpersonal interactions, problem-solving, analyzing and evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, handling of multiple tasks. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning, patience, and negotiating in working with volunteers and coworkers. 
   Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. May be required to travel to other facilities and various locations for job-related training, meetings, and events. 
Position Status 
   Full time (40 hours/week), non-exempt
