Our organization is called Hannah’s Helping Hands. We are a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, serving the Greater Portland area. Hannah's Helping Hands is dedicated to helping under-served and marginalized individuals in our community experience a lifetime of love with a Pet. Through our programs we provide Pets, at no charge, to school classrooms, senior centers, group homes and veterans; this includes providing free medical care, supplies and food for the life of the Pet... The only ingredient needed is love!
We are proud to be of service to people who need our help the most. All of us who love animals know that the unconditional love of a Pet is one of the greatest gifts in life. Unfortunately, those who need such love, companionship and devotion are often unable to afford the costs to care for their beloved furry friend.
That is where Hannah's Helping Hands shines! We believe that every person should belong to a Pet, especially those in our community who are struggling and lonely or who may feel ostracized due to physical or mental challenges.

We are looking for a self-starting and creative people-person who can work well without micro-managing. He/she should be extremely dependable, well-organized, have excellent people skills, the gift of diplomacy, strong administrative and computer skills, and excellent verbal and written skills. Our intern must be able to understand the needs of both Pets and people and communicate effectively with the public and donors. Based on your interests, your duties will include placing Pets in schools, group homes, senior centers and with disabled veterans. You will maintain the organization's social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, blogging, etc.), help with fundraising events and campaigns, and more!
Your internship will provide you with valuable skills in overall nonprofit management. Please note that this is an unpaid internship, but as a growing nonprofit there will be possibilities for advancement in the future. We typically request interns dedicate 2-3 days a week to their internship for a period of at least three months, but please note that we are willing to work around your class schedule if you are a student.
For the right person, this will be a fun and rewarding internship. We have a casual, caring, hardworking and yet heart centered environment. You should be able to inspire and unify people (including yourself) around a common goal and be joyful to work with. We are looking for someone who deeply cares about Pets and people and who wants to help a young nonprofit THRIVE…. and.... wants have fun in the process!
