The Communication and Social Media Intern is directly responsible for generating content for social media platforms, blogs and newsletters by using strong research, writing and networking skills. This position also requires the creation of basic marketing materials for Career Center events and Student Affairs. They are interested in hiring someone soon, to begin early this summer. Ideally, they would like someone who can work in the Portland office during the summer, and then work remotely from Eugene once Fall term begins.

Job Description:

Enhance existing Career Center Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn  through promotion of services, jobs events and educational articles

Populate followers of all social media and track growth

Create innovative and interactive ways to engage our audiences

Assist in planning and promoting Career Center events

Alumni Job Search Group

Skills Workshop

Networking Event

Design marketing materials for Career Center events and Student Affairs

Write monthly promotions for UOAA E-newsletter and Parents newsletter

Write weekly Career Center blog posts focused on testimonials

Research Portland-area job/internship opportunities

Respond to other opportunities as they arise

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

Must be comfortable navigating Facebook Pages, LinkedIn Groups, Twitter, and Hootsuite or TweetDeck. Experience with Photography, Video, Adobe InDesign and Illustrator is preferred. The ability to maintain a consistent voice and brand is crucial. This position requires someone who is capable of writing flawless content for varying audiences and mediums. Ability to tell a story, synthesize information and research well is a must. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple projects independently, without direct supervision.

Hours/pay:  10- 15 hrs/week, Monday through Friday, flexible, $9-10/hr
