Corvallis-based PR firm, Public Good PR, is looking to hire a Communications Assistant.
Our firm specializes in advancing public policy agendas on behalf of environmental nonprofit organizations and land use attorneys, as well as businesses that promote energy efficiency. We represent a group of conservation organizations working to advance an historic water settlement agreement in the Klamath Basin, a coalition of groups working to pass a fracking moratorium in California, and one of the nation’s leading environmental law firms on a variety of projects.
We hope to hire a full-time communications assistant who can provide a broad range of support.
The ideal candidate would be an excellent writer, be comfortable on the phone (including placing pitch calls to reporters), have an interest in environmental policy issues, and be interested in a career in communications. We are looking for someone who takes initiative and enjoys a fast-pace work environment, similar to that of a political campaign, as much of our work involves advocating to pass bills and dealing with daily deadlines.
The scope of work for this position includes:
Drafting basic press releases, emails, letters, and media pitches
Researching reporters and policies for how to submit op-eds and LTEs at different papers
Maintaining media listsand other spreadsheets (in Excel)
Calling reporters and editors to schedule interviews and pitch stories
Incorporating edits from multiple parties to update documents
Preparing fact sheets and other brief summary documents, including conducting appropriate Internet-based research
Completing basic administrative tasks as needed
This is a Jack- or Jane-of-all-trades type of position. We are seeking someone with a can-do attitude who is eager to learn. Applicants should have at least a moderate level of mastery in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and should be confident and efficient conducting Internet research. Attention to detail is critical. This full-time salaried position pays $27,500-32,500 per year and is available immediately (phasing in for a current student would be okay). A $100 per month stipend for health care and 10 days paid vacation/sick leave are also included. Much of the work will happen at our home-based Corvallis office; once rapport is established, part-time telecommuting is okay.
Applicants should send a cover letter and a resume, three professional references, and a brief writing sample to Nina Erlich-Williams at email@example.com. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
