Community Warehouse is a nonprofit, full-service furniture bank that collects and redistributes donated furniture and household goods to neighbors in need. Through two locations (Portland and Tualatin) and partnerships with over 200 social service agencies, public schools, and faith communities, the Warehouse helps 60 families every week stabilize their lives by providing them with the basics that turn their housing into homes. Families are able to receive beds, a kitchen table and chairs, a dresser, sofa, living room furniture, lamps, items for cooking and linens all in a single visit. These basic comforts of home go a long way in helping people improve their stability, quality of life, and self-sufficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for helping Community Warehouse strengthen and further its mission through increased awareness and recognition, development of community partnerships, stakeholder acknowledgment and engagement, brand and reputation management, and ongoing evaluation and refinement of communication strategies to best meet the needs of the organization. The Communications Director is responsible for all general information promoting Community Warehouse including the website and all printed materials (annual report, letterhead, receipts, flyers, brochures, invitations, signage) as requested by the Executive Director and other directors. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
With support of full team, create Community Warehouse's Annual Communications Plan (in accordance with 5-Year Strategic Plan) and manage all internal and external communication activities in reference to these plans.
Work closely with Executive Director and Development Director to establish and monitor fundraising efforts, marketing strategies, and outreach goals.
Highlight opportunities for the community to support the organization through website and social media platforms.
Supervise part-time Social Media Coordinator.
Serve as primary media contact and provide regular updates/communication to media with focus on broad community awareness of the organization's need for funding and furniture donations.
Provide specific attention to website management, print materials coordination and maintaining of a unified message to the community. 
Highlight opportunities to cross-promote Community Warehouse programs and services.
Provide communications and marketing materials for events, volunteer recruitment, Estate Stores, furniture bank programs, and fundraising.
Speak at various public engagements (small and large audiences).
Facilitate photography/videography projects related to mission (document client/donor experiences, events, and various campaign efforts to share with stakeholders).
Seek out, organize, and facilitate outreach fairs and city clean-up events.
Participate in performance evaluations of this position as directed by Executive Director.
Other duties as may be assigned by Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant communications experience or degree in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or related field. 
Ability to effectively lead outcome-based communications objectives.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to craft thoughtful storytelling content and copyedit regularly.
Critical and creative thinking aptitude.
Problem solving, research and analytical skills.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Embody an optimistic, upbeat attitude and assume good will in every person.
Must be equally comfortable working independently AND as a member of a team.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Adobe Suite, Wordpress, web design platforms, and/or basic HTML coding a plus.
Graphic design skills a plus.
Previous work with media a plus.
Supervisory experience a plus.
Must have valid driver's license.
Weekend and evening work may be required.
