We're looking for a part-time intern for portlandtalks.org. The site -- which collects lectures and other education-based events from around the city -- went live a few months ago and has been growing steadily since. But I, the founder, am leaving to New York, so we're looking for one more person to get involved here in Portland.
The ideal candidate will posses strong writing skills, an interest in lectures and events happening around Portland, and a deep understanding of how to cultivate and build out a social media presence. This may be a good opportunity for the right undergrad or grad student in PR/Communications, Journalism and/or Business, as you'll be learning how to publish on a WordPress site, manage email campaigns, and use a multitude of techniques to build relationships and drive traffic to our content.
Besides occasional meetings, all work will be done wirelessly, with an expected 3-6 hours of work a week. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: updating events, corresponding with sponsoring organizations, curating the Featured Talks section, laying out the weekly newsletter, and updating event info on our social media channels.
We're also open to considering a partnership for someone with a large community and strong communication credentials.
Please email a brief, two paragraph introduction, resume, and your Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
