They’re turning to sites like Digital Trends, specifically to the Cars section. So if you’re an aspiring automotive journalist, this is where you want to be.
Luckily for you, Digital Trends, an industry-‐admired digital lifestyle website, is currently seeking a talented writer and automotive enthusiast to contribute to our Cars section. While a passion for cars is a must, as is a familiarity with web content management (specifically Wordpress), the ideal candidate will come ready to learn about the ins and outs of top-‐notch automotive journalism.

This position is based in or around Portland, Oregon; however, remote participation is a possibility for the right candidate.
The main responsibilities of this position will include writing several 300+ word news posts each day, as well as editing the daily news posts of our current contributors. In time, other responsibilities could include writing product previews/reviews, roundups, features, slideshows, interviews, event coverage, and other opportunities. Those interested should have strong knowledge of the automotive industry and an ability to produce clean, well-‐researched and -‐reported copy and adapt to a rapid news cycle. Candidates without an automotive enthusiast background should demonstrate a desire to learn about the category and how he/she could contribute to the section.
• Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or equivalent • Top-‐notch writing, editing, research, and grammar skills (AP Style a plus) • Interest & passion for all aspects of cars • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work with team and independently • Experience working with CMS/Wordpress • Experience investigating and reporting • Basic Image editing skills • Flexibility and self-‐motivation • Willingness to learn • Excellent, professional personal skills
Negotiable. This is an entry-‐level staff writer position.
Pay is hourly, 20 hours a week. We need applicants who can adhere to a regular schedule.
