Come work for one of the Pacific Northwest's best small dailies and websites. The Daily Astorian is part of a family-owned multimedia group that favors enterprise over blow-by-blow meeting coverage. We have invested in journalism by adding pages and a statehouse bureau at a time other newspaper media are cutting back. We are a small-town newspaper with a global outlook.
There is an immediate opportunity for an accurate, creative and hard-working reporter covering the natural resources, general assignments and our two largest cities — Astoria and Warrenton. We value spot news hustle, and you should be fluent in social media, breaking news, multimedia and be able to help produce radio stories for local stations. You must have experience covering governments and a nose to ferret out the key issues and what’s truly important for the reader.
You’ll work closely with an energetic newsroom. A previous reporter says, "Astoria is a beautiful place to work. The community cares about its paper, as well as about the people who live here. The Daily Astorian is the best work environment! It’s a professional but family-focused office that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.”
Benefits include paid time off (PTO), insurances and a 401(k)/Roth 401(k) retirement plan. Salary range $26,000 to $28,000 per year.
