Position Description

Vox PRPA is a full service public relations agency in Eugene, Ore. We are looking for energetic, creative students who want to work and learn with us throughout the school year. We offer one to two unpaid internship positions each term, including summer term.


Job Description: Public Relations Intern

Interns with Vox assist professional staff in completing a wide variety of public relations and marketing projects, including writing, media outreach, communications strategy planning and social media. Although our work is driven by what our clients need at the time, typical intern duties may include researching companies, issues, products and industries; drafting news releases, website copy, social media posts and other marketing materials; brainstorming, researching and drafting public relations and marketing tactics for clients; following up on news releases with the media and pitching stories; tracking media coverage for various initiatives; and drafting and posting content and managing social media communities for clients and Vox. Familiarity with basic office equipment, Macintosh computing systems, electronic filing principles, Office software is necessary.


Skills Required

Basic knowledge of public relations principles (research, analysis, implementation, evaluation).

Good writing, communication and research skills.

Comfort and willingness to interact with people, including calling reporters.

Excellent customer service skills. 

Flexibility; ability to switch tasks multiple times throughout each shift while tracking progress on both long- and short-term goals.

Can see big picture while being detail oriented and thorough.

Strong desire to learn and initiative to

Sees projects through to successful completion. 

Sense of humor an asset.

Ability to analyze a problem and suggest solutions.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to take direction from numerous individuals in the office.





We ask that Vox interns commit to a minimum of ten (10) hours per week for the duration of the academic term. However, our offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and interns are given flexibility to set their schedules within that range around school, extracurricular and personal responsibilities. We also ask that students treat their internships with us as they would any other job and give advance notice whenever possible if time must be missed or rescheduled.
