This fast-paced communications team member will work collaboratively with the CNN Worldwide public relations teams in New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., London and Hong Kong to support strategic and innovative publicity campaigns for CNN Digital Worldwide, as well as cross-platform programming initiatives. The role requires creative, digital-first thinking, out-of-the-box ideas and strong public relations skills. The position provides an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment alongside the Web's best and brightest content creators in the news business. This position will support CNN Digital along with the entire PR and Marketing department for day-to-day tasks, event management and long-term projects across bureaus.
What will you be doing?
Implement strategic and innovative publicity campaigns for digital content, executives, talent and the brand itself.
Create proactive pitches and story ideas targeted to national media, content-specific outlets, trade pubs, and social platforms.
Develop creative campaign strategies and pitches for digital editorial features, network talent, partnerships and business initiatives, products, and executives.
Pitch and secure coverage in trade publications, newspapers, magazines, radio and online media.
Identify opportunities, create frame, and proactively pitch story ideas to targeted media.
Schedule and cover talent interviews and appearances.
Coordinate events that generate buzz.
Monitor and conduct outreach via social media.
Develop and maintain media lists and relationships with press.
Generate innovative ideas to participate in brainstorming sessions.
Manage projects including: status reports, media monitoring, and coordination of press materials.
Service media requests and act as network source of information on talent, executives, programs, products and brands.
Manage digital platforms for the Public Relations Department, such as the CNN Press Room.
General global publicity support for CNN Digital's writers, producers and staff.
. What do we require from you?
Candidates need to have a healthy interest in the news, digital media, an adaptability to adjust to a fast-paced cycle, and familiarity with CNN's networks and platforms.
1-3 years of experience, preferably with a media, PR, technology, or social organization.
Strong understanding of product, digital video, personality and editorial publicity preferred.
Existing relationships with press covering digital media, TV trade, business and/or technology.
Excellent judgment and strategic thinking, multi-tasking, thriving in a faced-paced environment, creativity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Deadline driven self-starter with a mature attitude and the ability to deal with pressured situations will excel.
Demonstrated experience with platforms including Wordpress, TweetDeck, CMS and Cision is preferred.
