Marketing & Corporate Communications Specialist

Greenbrier is looking for a creative, self-motivated, and experienced Marketing & Corporate Communications Specialist. In this position you will assist the development of external and internal communications programs, manage outside marketing agencies and coordinate domestic and international trade shows and industry events. As a member of our marketing and corporate communications teams, you will optimize our companywide corporate and employee communications, including developing and maintaining internal and external communications calendars. You will support the development of compelling content that energizes, aligns, and informs a targeted audience and which is suitable for delivery across a range of communications platforms. You will help foster an open communications culture and harness new and traditional voices as Greenbrier’s grows into new market segments and geographies.

 This role requires daily cross-functional collaboration with individuals across the organization and interacts most closely with the Corporate Marketing, Corporate Communications, Investor Relations and Human Resources teams. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities•

Support internal and external corporate communications activities. Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization as necessary.•

Manage outside agencies and vendors to ensure engaging marketing campaigns are successfully executed and fit within our global brand guidelines and budget.•

Coordinate the detailed execution of industry events, trade shows, conference sponsorships and charitable events, both domestically and internationally.•

Provide ongoing support to senior business leadership, including internal messaging, speech writing, and developing presentation material for senior leadership presentations, employee meetings and special events.•

Manage all internal communications channels and content creation, including close collaboration and support of business unit communications. Channels include the company intranet, email, company meetings, executive town halls, digital signage (BrightSigns/GBXCast communications network), social media platforms and social/collaboration apps. •

Monitor industry trends to maintain, edit and deploy Greenbrier-branded rail industry daily content aggregation newsletter. •

Serve as a project management/coordinator/point person on a variety of corporate communications projects such as corporate videos and other promotional activities. Support the development of communications materials (press releases, media advisories, briefing documents, media lists, talking points, social media content, memos, management presentations, video scripts, intranet content, speeches and other related materials) on a variety of topics for a wide range of audiences, as needed.•

Assist with media list development, media monitoring, photography needs, press release distribution, and event support as needed.•

Support and coordinate social media channel management.•

Assist with coordination of an internal editorial board to develop and deploy employee communications content.•

Develop measurement criteria and processes that effectively evaluate corporate communications programs.

Preferred Qualifications•

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field, 4+ years of experience in corporate, media, government or non-profit environment, with a focus on writing and/or editorial responsibilities.•

Extensive writing and editing experience.•

Ability to travel domestically 20% of the time to coordinate events.•

Experience in developing and executing corporate communications programs. Especially adept at the development of communications deliverables that connect specific business priorities to corporate vision and strategy.•

Ability to rapidly earn the confidence and trust of management team and business leaders, and be viewed as a strategic business partner. Ability to project a confident leadership image to superiors and peers.•

Demonstrated ability to manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously. Hands-on, as well as strategic. A team player who can lead by example, with high accountability for his/her actions.•

Demonstrates extraordinary initiative and flexibility, with the ability to get things done, delivering high-quality thinking and results quickly within tight timelines.•

Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs•

Basic graphic design abilities with excellent creative and visual skills, including slide design, with experience using Adobe Pro or other presentation software.•

Ability to convey messages through visual tools, such as PowerPoint, digital signage, web, etc.
