Visual Journalist


The Statesman Journal | in Salem, Oregon, is seeking a visual journalist responsible for our daily visual report with both still images and video, and enterprise and projects.


The ideal candidate is a passionate self-starter who is equally skilled in photography, video and audio, as has experience in social media. Must be a quick learner who immerses themselves in both the newsroom and the community to help find and produce highly visual community journalism.


Candidates should have a college degree and have served at least one internship in a digital-first newsroom.


Salem is Oregon’s state capital. The Statesman Journal covers Marion and Polk counties in the Mid-Willamette Valley, home to hundreds of vineyards and wineries and craft breweries. The Statesman Journal is one hour from Portland, 90 minutes from the Oregon Coast, and amazing outdoor experiences are even closer.
