PHC Northwest is currently seeking someone to fill the role of PR Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a pro-active, dedicated, and energetic person with excellent writing and communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or similar is preferred, but not required. We are looking for a self-starter who can work a flexible schedule that would include occasional evening meetings. In your role as PR Coordinator, you will be focusing on PR and communications for both PHC Northwest, its business lines, and one of its programs, the Connecting Communities Coalition. The successful candidate is someone who will take the initiative on the creation and completion of effective PR strategies, media outreach, newsletter creation and completion, as well as putting out PHC Northwest’s name and connecting with its customers and community members.
Must be experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CS5 (or a newer version) and Final Cut Pro. Must be comfortable working with a diverse population. Must be able to pass a stringent criminal background check and possess a valid driver’s license and reliable automobile, safe driving record and insurance coverage acceptable to PHC Northwest’s insurance carrier.
In this position you’ll be responsible for:
PHC and its Business Lines
Arrange public appearances, submit award nominations, and put together events and promotional exhibits to
increase product or service awareness or to advance goodwill.
Copy-writing: prepare or edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences, including customer e-
newsletters, web copy, and reports. Write media releases.
Promote and manage social media presence.
Assist in the future development of marketing plans, promotional recaps, briefs and presentations.
Connecting Communities Coalition
Community advocacy on disability issues.
Plan and manage a large community annual event production (500 attendees).
Act as Communications Sub-Committee Chair with the CCC: attend meetings; write promotional materials, press
releases, script, and other copy work. PHC Government Relations
Understand State of Oregon’s legislative process.
Work with contract lobbyist: Track, introduce, and promote priority bills and/or kill bills that impact PHC and the
State of Oregon’s Qualified Rehabilitation Facility (QRF) program.
In the “off season”, continue working with lobbyist in building relationships with legislators, agencies, and
businesses. Build PR capacity in preparation for legislative sessions.
Keep up with news and politics that pertain to PHC’s mission as well as regulatory or policy issues that are of
significance to PHC’s business lines and its contracting activities.
Monitor lobbying strategies and activities if they are effectively meeting PHC’s needs.
Coordinate legislator visits to PHC or visits to the Capitol through contract lobbyist
