Type of position: PR/Special Event

Purpose: Assist with the development and implementation of an effective and innovative marketing and outreach plan. Our mission during Peace Week (Sept. 14-21) is to inspire, inform, mobilize and support year-round activities promoting security, prosperity, and quality of life, the foundations of a culture of peace. 

Duties:        • research relevant information & prepare press releases, posters, flyers, PSA's        • manage internet-based communication through website, Facebook, newsletter, calendars, bloggers and cooperating networks        • determine best timing for PR & PSA releases to print, radio and TV        • contact appropriate media editorial staff, request feature articles & interviews        • raise visibility and status of Peace Week with business, governmental and non-governmental organizations        • develop branding        *  consult with David Hazen at home office, 4349 Shadow Wood Drive in SE Eugene once per week        • attend planning team meetings (every other Tuesday at 1 PM, 60 minutes, at CALC, 458 Blair Blvd.)        • listen to Cities Peace team webinars (every 3 weeks, 60 minutes) live or recorded

Start Date: June-July 2014End Date: September 28, 2014

Unpaid time commitment of approximately 6-10 hours per week. 

Minimum course requirements: need to have taken at least the first two PR classes (principles of public relations and the media relations/media writing class).
