Description:Do you have a passion for public relations and/or marketing? The Downtown Oregon City Association is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated public relations/marketing intern to assist with the roll out of a media kit and social media program!
The Downtown Oregon City Association is a 501c(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation working towards the revitalization of downtown Oregon City. Our goal is to entice shoppers, inventors, and visitors to experience downtown’s distinct culture and environment by enhancing existing (or new) events, highlighting downtown’s special features and assets, creating opportunities to draw customers downtown, and supporting other organizations’ events that meet our mission.
As a PR/Marketing intern, you will have an opportunity to work and learn in a professional environment and get first-hand experience in public relations, marketing, and some event planning. During the course of the internship, you will develop basic marketing and public relations skills, including how to write/develop news posts, press releases, social media content, and stakeholder newsletter using MailChimp. You will develop media kits and packets for downtown Oregon City to promote tourism in the area. In addition, you may be asked to assist with research, administrative support, and website maintenance.
You will have an opportunity to own a project from start to finish and at the end of the internship, you will walk away with professional skills and a project to add to your portfolio.
Applicants should currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed fundamental coursework in marketing, public relations, event planning or project management-
Applicants must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and have exceptional task management skills-
Must have excellent verbal, interpersonal and writing skills-
Must be able to work independently, take initiative and follow through with projects-
Basic knowledge of trending social media-
Photoshop or other graphic design software skills a plus-
Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week-
Ability to provide own laptop/computer to work on is a plus but not required
