About Lane County Government:    Lane County is 4,620 square miles (approximately the size of Connecticut) and stretches from the Oregon coast to the summit of the Cascades. Lane County Government provides a variety of services to residents throughout the county, including public health, Community Health Centers of Lane County, veterans services, the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney, waste management, road maintenance, land use planning and more.        Responsibilities    • Assist with media outreach, including press releases    • Assist with creating engaging website content    • Assist with social media management and strategic planning    • Author communications for distribution to community and staff members    • Other duties as assigned or of interest        This internship includes many opportunities to work with both internal and external audiences, help develop communications plans and help manage Lane County’s social media presence. Upon successful completion, interns will receive a letter of recommendation. Interns will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and work on long-term projects. Opportunities to develop photography and videography skills are also available. Interns work in a pleasant office setting located in downtown Eugene. 

Experience Required/Preferred   Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Professionalism and the ability to work with confidential information are important skills. Knowledge of website development and experience using Adobe products are also welcome.
