Public Relations Intern

Eugene Generals Junior Hockey Club

The Eugene Generals are looking for a Public Relations/Communications Intern to serve as the main content developer of its major media properties for the 2018-2019 season. 
This Intern will be responsible for the implementation of a media campaign via traditional and social media mediums, including direct mail, team website, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media networks. Such communications will include press releases, feature stories on the players and coaches, and team posts on social media. Intern will coordinate with game-day social media operator. 
The Intern may travel with the team to various league sites throughout Oregon and Washington at the team’s expense during the hockey season. Most games are Friday/Saturday. Travel with the team on roadtrips is optional but would be encouraged, and it would be limited to about 1-2 times per month or less. 
This is an excellent opportunity for Intern to develop a strong portfolio of work that will demonstrate the capabilities and progress of PR and Communications efforts during a period of time. Intern will be responsible for own content and reports to the Associate General Manager. This position will be centered out of Eugene, OR. 


This internship may be converted to a full-time position based on the quality of work of the intern.


Salary: Paid internship commensurate with experience and skill. 

Experience: Current journalism majors preferred. Strong writers will gain significantly stronger consideration. Proficiency in the following software required: web browser, MS Office (Word, Excel). Proficiency in the following software is a plus: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere.
