Come work for one of the Pacific Northwest’s best small dailies and websites. The Daily Astorian is part of a family-owned multimedia group that favors enterprise over blow-by-blow meeting coverage. Our yearlong series on climate change won the 2007 national Grantham Award of Special Merit for environmental reporting. We are investing in journalism by adding pages and a statehouse bureau at a time other newspaper media are cutting back.
There is an immediate opportunity for an accurate, creative and hard-working reporter covering public safety, courts, national and state parks and county government. We value spot news hustle, and you should be fluent in social media, breaking news, multimedia and be able to help produce our daily radio stories for local stations. You must have experience covering governments and a nose to ferret out the key issues and what’s truly important for the reader.
We are a small-town newspaper with a global outlook.
You’ll work closely with an energetic newsroom. A previous reporter says, “Astoria is a beautiful place to work. The community cares about its paper, as well as about the people who live here. The Daily Astorian is the best work environment! It’s a professional but family-focused office that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.”
