The Student Activities Board (SAB) is part of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) an EMU program in the Division of Student Life. The SAB works to enhance the student experience at the University of Oregon through innovative leadership and engaging activities. The SAB is the consolidated group bringing all the SAB student teams together to work on common events, collaborations and provide input to CSI professional staff.
SAB teams include the BE Series, Connect The Ducks, Ducks After Dark, Fishbowl Fridays, Intersectional Events, Visual Arts and Willamette Valley Music Festival. Additionally it supports other campus events such as Week of Welcome, Homecoming and Stress Less. All Student Activities Board team members, advised by CSI staff, contribute to events and develop event planning skills. The purpose of the Social Media and Marketing position is to get the word out about all Student Activities Board events and opportunities to the UO student body. The goal is to increase attendance and volunteer participation at events. This position creates marketing plans that include print, web, social media, street teams and other kinds of outreach. The position specifically works with teams to coordinate SAB social media sites, to come up with new ideas for marketing, and generally to help with all the individual teams as possible. The Coordinator will lead group meetings inviting all the SAB teams to attend and discuss strategies and areas needing help. Additionally the position works to develop fun creative way to get the word out about the SAB to increase overall participation. This person will work with many people including CSI Advisors, SAB teams, Student Life Marketing staff, Scheduling staff and more. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop, implement and evaluate creative yearly, term & event specific marketing plans including social media • Manage all social media used by the team including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter • Work with other Student Activities Board Social Media Coordinator to connect with other social media outlets • Lead team meetings o Setting Agendas o Scheduling times and rooms o Keeping meeting minutes • Assist with general promotions for SAB recruitment and events • Participate in Student Activities Board trainings, workshops, and other activities as needed • Participate on Student Activities Board: o Work with the team at events o Attend all committee meetings o Hold 3 weekly office hours in CSI o Meet weekly with Advisor o Attend 3 EMU Leadership trainings REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Be currently enrolled as a University of Oregon student and must remain in good standing if hired • Recipients must be taking at least 8 credits (undergrad) or 5 credits (graduate) • Ability to create social media and marketing plans that increase attendance and awareness of events • Ability to create clear, concise exciting social media messages • Ability to follow tight deadlines • Ability to pay close attention to details • Ability to brainstorm creative ideas, research ideas, plan for implementation and see ideas through to completion • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience with Student Activities Board including attendance at events or volunteering • Experience in leadership • Knowledge of EMU programs, campus departments and/or student organizations • Experience with event management • Experience implementing social media marketing campaigns • Experience in Marketing, Public Relations or related fields
Salary/compensation Stipend $450/term
