Cascadia Prepared

Cascadia Prepared is a 501(c)3 nonprofit operating out of Eugene, OR to build earthquake resilience. Our focus is generating content that can be used to inspire businesses and communities to work together in preparation. We are just getting our feet on the ground in terms of fundraising and strategy development and are looking for a social media manager to help us build a reputation and get our name in the public eye. 


This position will run our digital communication and social media with daily posts, campaigns, and special features that engages the public and builds community awareness. The internship is best suited for an experienced individual interested in helping a well-organized, grassroots (yet growing quickly) nonprofit. Our current social media presence is nonexistent and we are looking for an inspired and passionate person to build the program from the ground up. Our previous intern has created a week’s worth of content to be scheduled to post. 


This position is 10-15 hours per week (mostly remote with only a few required office hours, flexible schedule), $10.25/hour. 




   Assist the Cascadia Prepared team with all social media platforms, assisting with website and mass email design. 

   Create related content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn 

   Develop campaigns to inform current and engage new audiences 

   Raise visibility of Cascadia Prepared in existing and new markets 

   Create, schedule, and publish content on social platforms using Sprout Social 

   Research and identify media and influencer outreach opportunities 

   Analyze communication metrics, develop coverage reports, adapt to findings 

   Research and outreach to online influencers and potential partnerships 

   Utilize resources to become knowledgeable on fundraising across on all social media platforms 

   Attend monthly board meetings and other community events to collect photos, video, and quotes 

   Weekly updates to the Cascadia Prepared team regarding progress and developments 

   Other duties as assigned 


   The ideal candidate will be a rising young professional, well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable, with a strong interest to help others. 


   Additional requirements include: 

   At least one year of social media work experience 

   Awarded degree in a relevant field (journalism, marketing, etc) is preferred yet current students are welcome to reach out 

   Experienced using all major social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkdlin and Pinterest) 

   Strong creative writing skills 

   Have a passion for the world of social media marketing and digital marketing, especially in a nonprofit setting (we are looking to inspire people, not scare people!) 

   Graphic design and photography skills 

   Laptop with internet access 

   Work independently and collaboratively 

   Manage time and deadlines effectively 

   Handle multiple assignments simultaneously 

   Proficient in Google G Suite, Sprout Social and Canva 

   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
