Social Media/Editorial Assistant Student Employee

General Description of Duties:

Following a daily publishing schedule, plans and posts content to the library’s social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Writes briefs for Around the O and engaging posts for the library’s websites

Documents library events for UO students using social media

Develops social media campaigns and monitors other campus channels

Develops promotional plans and carries out marketing campaigns for library-sponsored events and programs  

Works with library’s Writing Specialist to prepare stories for print publication and

Performs periodic assessment of the effectiveness of communications campaigns utilizing both U/X and analytics-based methods, updating social media guidelines accordingly

Creates student-centered content and slideshows for digital displays


Special Requirements

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro and Power Point software

Thorough knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Facebook

Self-motivated and good at project management.

Fluency with mobile social media technology

Excellent interviewing, research, writing, and editing skills

Experience using smart phones and/or cameras to capture still and video content for social media

Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and as an integrated part of a collaborative team

Ability to work around rare and valuable artifacts following special handling procedures



10-20 hours/week  $12.00/hour
