Summer Outreach Intern


Summary of job description: PRR is a nationally-recognized public involvement and communications firm. Our award-winning staff helps local, state, and federal government and nonprofit clients engage communities and build public trust. 

This is a PAID internship. The primary purpose of this internship is to staff and coordinate logistics for PRR’s summer outreach activities. The intern will learn key information about the projects PRR supports and share that information with members of the public at summer fairs and festivals throughout the Puget Sound Region.    

Project managers may assign additional tasks, including coordinating public meetings; conducting research; taking meeting notes; and assisting with various administrative tasks as needed.  

This position is approximately 20 hours/week and involves a lot of evening and weekend work throughout the summer.

Strong organizational skills and ability to help coordinate events and meetings and manage multiple details.

Ability to take initiative and work independently and efficiently.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Interest in public affairs, current events, transit and transportation, community building, and/or environmental issues.

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Experience and Education:

Pursuing associates, college undergraduate, or graduate degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Public Affairs/Public Policy, Marketing, Urban Planning, or applicable degree.

Customer service experience highly desirable.

Fluency in a language other than English, especially Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Somali, and Amharic desirable.

Familiarity with communities in Tacoma, South King County, East King County, and/or Seattle
