BE Series is a committee of the Student Activities Board (SAB) part of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) an EMU program in the Division of Student Life. The SAB works to enhance the student experience at the University of Oregon through innovative leadership and engaging activities. It accomplishes its goal by planning events for UO students including Ducks After Dark film nights, Fishbowl Fridays, Gallery exhibits and many more fun events. Additionally it supports other campus events such as Week of Welcome and Homecoming.

The BE Series brings together thinkers, makers, disrupters in every field to share their ideas on issues that really matter such as innovation, social justice, mental health and more. It’s about finding out possibilities of who we could be and who we already are. Each talk is aimed to spark inspiration for us to go out into the world and choose who to become; maybe come up with a plan, discover an insight or find out what you are capable of. The BE Series selects speakers who are challenging the status quo and inspiring us to be more. BE Series events help students connect the dots between their: academic, professional, and personal lives so they can explore who they are and who they want to BE.

All BE Series team members contribute to the content of their events and develop event planning skills. Purpose of the Academic Liaison position is to enhance student participation at BE Series events and activities through building connections with academic units. Additionally the Academic Liaison works with faculty and staff to develop ideas for topics and increase the educational value of topics chosen by the team. Through connecting to multiple departments on campus the BE Series team hopes to lower duplication and increase quality of events.
