RTDNF Scholarships and Fellowships

Scholarships are open to undergraduate students pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism.  Winners must be officially enrolled, full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors in good standing when scholarships are awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year.  Students may apply for only one RTDNF scholarship, and past RTDNF scholarship winners are not eligible.

 

 

Application Instructions: 

Complete the online application form, including:

  • Contact information
  • Experience
  • URL links to 3-5 work samples
    • Work samples should be broadcast (television/radio) or online news pieces.
    • Work samples should be uploaded to a host site like YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, etc.

Upload the supplemental materials:

  • Cover letter
    • Discuss your current and past journalism experience
    • Describe how you intend to use the funds
    • Discuss your choice to pursue a career in journalism
    • Addressed to RTDNF Scholarship Committee

Clif's Bar Business with Purpose Scholarships

HOW TO APPLY

  • A link to apply will be hosted at clifbar.com/scholarship throughout the application period.  The link to apply will direct students to an application hosted by Scholarship America at https://scholarsapply.org/clifbar/
  • Students will create an account and submit an e-application via Scholarship America.  
  • In addition to answering the application questions, students will be asked to submit the following:
    • Two (2) online recommendations from people (unrelated to the applicant) who best understand why the applicant is a good fit.
    • An uploaded complete transcript of their undergraduate studies, and
    • Documentation of their outstanding student loan balance (total amount and expected balance upon completion of their post-graduation internship or project).
  • If selected as a finalist, students will be asked to submit two creative submissions:
    • A written Purpose Plan, no longer than one page in length (500 words) in Microsoft Word.
    • A Personal Video, no longer than 2 minutes in length formatted as an MP4, or MOV file.  
    • Both creative submissions will be requested via email and will serve as key components for applicants to showcase what type of experience this scholarship will enable them to pursue, and how they envision the experience impacting their future career in business.
    • Finalists must also be prepared for the possibility of a face-to-face interview (in person or via Skype, for example) with a Clif representative at our discretion.

ACES: The Society for Editing Scholarship

NATAS Scholarship

The NW division of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is seeking applicants from the University of Oregon for its annual scholarship. They extended the deadline to March 9. Application requires a recommending faculty to fill out an evaluation form for the student. The program awards up to three $2,500 scholarships per year.

The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) will award 100 scholarships in 2018 in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Of the 100, 60 ethnic minority undergraduate students will receive scholarships of $2,000 each and 40 graduate students will receive scholarships of $3,250 each. Students must be attending four-year accredited institutions in the U.S. and majoring in the fields of advertising, marketing or public relations.

Newspaper Internship Grant

Are you a full-time college sophomore, junior or senior?

Do you have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher?

Do you have an exceptional interest in pursuing a career in newspaper work? If so, you’re eligible to apply.

 

This fall, the PNNA Foundation will award up to four $1,500 newspaper internship grants to worthy college students.

Each grant is awarded after the winner secures and begins an internship of six weeks or more at a PNNA-member newspaper in Spring or Summer 2018. Start looking for an internship now.
